There is always a huge deficit between what we take in revenue and what is needed to run and maintain the Pool (usually in the region of at least £15,000) which is why we stage various fundraising events year-round… and this is before we consider any improvements or emergency repairs. Donations of any size are hugely appreciated and you can donate here… Donate to Chagford Pool
Coming and recent years…..
We now need…..
- Essential pump room improvements
- Changing room improvements
- The paving to be re-pointed
- New decking
All improvements to date have been generously supported by the Parish Council and Chagford Recreational Trust, but we need your help to bridge the funding gap.
The coping stones around the Pool were all lifted and re-seated, as were the ladders.
Upgrade of the Toddler Pool….. It is now fully lined, has a new decking top and will be balmy warm. The planned new non-slip safety matting around it has had to be postponed for now due to financial constraints.
Two new toilets have been fitted… Our very busy summer last year saw our very old ones struggling. We received a grant from “Chagford Show” to help with this.
We have recently secured additional funding which has enabled us to add lunchtime Adult Lengths at the weekends and an additional Dawn Dippers session on Friday mornings.
Not long before we opened last year we found ourselves needing to raise nearly £12,000 to have a new environmentally friendly waste processor under the car park. The seventeen-year-old cesspit was no longer fit for purpose and the new much dearer system was required due to our close proximity to the river. Chagford Recreational Trust kindly loaned us the money, in order that we could open on time, and the entire sum was raised by the autumn.
Thank you to all who donated.
The Pool received just over £55,000 from “Sport England Lottery Fund” for water heating. We now have air source heat pumps to heat the 34 metre pool, and maintain it at ambient temperature. Solar PV panels assist with the electricity costs of running the additional facilities, including the hot showers, also fitted in 2016.
A liner was fitted, rendering the pool smoother, cleaner, warmer, and finally free from leakage. Over £30,000 of funding was raised by the community and with grants from Devon County Council, Chagford Parish Council and a number of trusts. Work was undertaken by ISCA Pools, with the liner only taking two days to fit.
